” We did it “

Together, we have made history. I wanted to take this moment to congratulate YOU, the 128,652 members of this cause, for what you did to help elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Many of you donated money, volunteered your time, talked to your friends, argued against cynicism and negativity, kept up with the news, followed polls, made phone calls, and researched policies. Did Obama change America? Perhaps. But our desire to see change and to support a candidate who wants health care for everybody, fights against greed, supports equal rights, wants a good education for all children, and believes in assuring that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed was what elected Barack Obama. Your voice was heard and honored yesterday; I am so proud of our country. But as Barack said last night, “This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change.”

So I pose an important question to you - what now? Now that we have elected Barack Obama as President, what now? We have a lot of work to do. We need major change in our economy, environmental policies, our public education system, our health care system, and more. We elected Barack Obama and our voices matter. But we have to continue to be involved, to speak up, and to demand that the change we want to see happens. What can our cause do to make that happen? If we let up, then we lose what we gained yesterday.

Please post on the wall of the cause if you have ideas and we can decide together. I am not deleting this cause because we are an incredibly powerful community of 128,652 people and we need to stay involved. The name of the cause is now “Barack Obama Is My President” so recruit your friends that haven’t joined and I’ll be in touch soon with opportunities to stay involved. In the meantime, speak up and let us know how you think we can make a difference going forward.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for what you’ve done. Congratulations everybody. YES WE CAN!

Thank you again from the Causes Team:
Jimmy, Kristján, Jen, Kevin, Chris, Josh, Chase, Brad, Joe, Susan, Sarah, Matt, David, Jill, Shari & Sean.
